34′ Motorboat stripped with Greensolv 273G
Coating System & Substrate
- Blue Antifouling coating from previous strip & repaint.
- Black Antifouling coating.
- Average thickness : 20-40 mils.
- Substrate : fiberglass with polyester coat.
Reason for stripping
- Motorboat needs a fresh antifouling to prevent fouling accumulation.
Application
- Total of 22 kg (6 gallons) of Greensolv 273G brushed with a long bristles paint brush on the motorboat in 2 applications.
- Total of 8 kg (2 gallons) of G-MAX 308 (alkaline cleaner) brushed on the gel coat to clean and rinse the remaining antifouling coating.
- Temperature : 18-22°C (64-72°F).
Results
- The results are exceptionnal, leaving a clean and smooth gel coat ready to coat.
- 34′ Motorboat was stripped in two days of 9 hours work (1 person) including the removal of the antifouling, the cleaning of the hull and the sanding of the gel coat.
Conclusion
- No dammage on the gel coat.
- No need for several coats of epoxy coating to repair damages caused by sandblasting.
