Passenger train car stripped with Greensolv 273D

Coating System & Substrate

  • Catalyzed epoxy primer.
  • Catalyzed polyurethane topcoat.
  • Coating system was 25 years old.
  • Substrate: aluminum.

Reason for stripping

  • Complete refurbishing (inside and outside).

Application

  • Total of 120 kg (37.5 Gal.) of Greensolv 273D were used.
  • Only 1 application.
  • Temperature : 28°C (82°F).

Results

  • The coating system was stripped during an overnight process (16 hours).
  • The train car was washed with a high pressure water V jet of 3000 psi.

Conclusion

  • Most cost effective method to strip a train car.
  • Did not damage aluminum.
  • Rapid stripping procedure.
